Why we like it

Almond butter and maple syrup bind the oats with no baking, and chocolate chips make them feel like a treat. Almonds contain vitamin E, and oats and flax add fiber. Easy to pack as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 150g rolled oats
  • 100g almond butter
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp flaxseed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a large bowl.
  2. Mix thoroughly — it will be sticky. Use clean hands if easier.
  3. If mixture is too dry to hold together, add 1 tsp more maple syrup or almond butter.
  4. Refrigerate mixture for 30 minutes — this makes rolling much easier.
  5. Roll into balls about the size of a golf ball (approximately 12 balls).
  6. Place on a plate or tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before eating.
  8. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
