Why we like it
Seasoned sushi rice holds its shape around the tuna mayo filling, and nori adds a crisp, savory wrap. Make them ahead and wrap them up for a picnic, a packed lunch or a snack before a training session.
Ingredients
- 200g sushi rice
- Sushi rice seasoning (or: 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp sugar, ½ tsp salt)
- 1 can tuna
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- Nori sheets
- Salt
- Sesame seeds
Method
- Cook sushi rice according to packet. Season with vinegar mixture while hot.
- Allow rice to cool to handling temperature — warm not hot.
- Mix tuna with mayonnaise and salt.
- Wet hands thoroughly. Take a handful of rice.
- Flatten in palm, add a spoonful of tuna in the center.
- Mold rice around filling into a triangular shape.
- Wrap with a strip of nori.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on rice.
- Eat immediately or wrap in plastic wrap for up to 4 hours.
